Find Out Why Our Architectural Products Are Far More Versatile and Resilient
If you work in the architectural world, especially with stucco, you’re likely familiar with the term “foam core.” That’s the term that many contractors use to describe EPS shapes that are then field coated in stucco. When we first talk about our foam core products, most of the architects we speak with assume that we’re talking about these stucco shapes.
But Patterson Whittaker offers something very different.
We have created a reinforced EPS core product that is coated in reinforced cement. Our architectural products compare favorably to universal architectural mouldings, including GFRC, precast concrete, and wood. They are durable, weather resistant, and able to fit on essentially any type of property – not just stucco – and they do not need to be coated in stucco or any other material other than paint or the finishing options chosen for the project.
What Are Field Coated Stucco Shapes?
With field coated stucco shapes, a foam/EPS shape is sent to the job site. Once there, it is attached to the wood or base coat of the property, and then layered in stucco and finished with a hand troweled coating. This type of product is extremely limiting:
- It does not allow for detailed or sophisticated designs.
- It is limited to stucco.
- It cannot be completed in a uniform way.
- Larger shapes are typically not possible or difficult.
- It is not meant to be as durable or long lasting, dependent mostly on the strength of the stucco.
Not only are our products able to fit on any type of property. They also allow:
- 100% uniform finish with no surface irregularities.
- Durable, reinforced material that resists chipping and cracks.
- Far greater detailing, making it possible to have intricate designs.
- Better dimensional accuracy to fit any space.
- Long lasting, weatherproof designs that can be maintained even with siding changes.
- The ability to create much larger shapes consistently and in any design.
- Paint ready immediately upon arrival with no need for field coating.
These are only some of the many advantages. There are also cost savings for installation, better longevity, less maintenance, and so much more.
