Our proprietary architectural foam material at PW Profiles is a mix of EPS, which includes several blended polymers, as well as cement with a wire mesh for internal form and stability. This results in architectural elements that are durable and long lasting with exterior texture and appearance similar to that of precast concrete.
Like precast, these architectural elements are weatherproof and work well for outdoor use with minimal maintenance required. They may, however, require some limited cleaning throughout the lifetime of the material to keep your property looking as attractive and professional as possible.
Requirements for Cleaning EPS Architectural Elements
Our architectural materials are resilient, but like any element exposed to the weather and the outdoors, they may still start to collect dirt over the years. This can result from dust in the air, minerals in the water, and contact with people, leading to stains or visible dirt on the surface. You can clean these spots with basic cleaning supplies, including:
- Biodegradable Soap – You can apply a biodegradable soap to any stains to help break up dirt and loosen it from the surrounding material.
- Firm Nylon Scrub Brush – A brush with medium to firm nylon bristles will get into crevices and pores of the material to push dirt out.
These cleaning solutions should be enough to remove dust and debris trapped just beneath the surface of the material that causes staining. After cleaning, you can wash soap and residue off using a hose with low pressure.
Although the final product is durable, it can still be damaged with the wrong maintenance techniques. You should avoid the following in order to prevent any damage:
- Pressure Washing, Including Soft Washing
- Solvent Cleaners
- Other Abrasive Cleaners or Materials
With these guidelines, you will be able to keep any EPS elements installed around your property free of blemishes and stains for many years and avoid any damage to the material itself.
PW Profiles can create resilient, long lasting architectural elements for your property, including columns, quoins, cladding and wall panels, and more. Contact our team to learn more about the different products we can create and all of the benefits that our EPS architectural elements can offer.
