One of the more common products that we’re contacted about here at Patterson Whittaker is our window trim, because the easily installation, low cost, high durability, and uniform appearance makes it a high quality option and a better alternative to additional materials.
In some ways, it’s fascinating to note how many different styles of window trim there are, which is why it is so important to have a partner you can turn to when you need to create any window trim that you plan to offer. Examples of window trim include:
Interior Window Trim
There is both interior and exterior window trim, and both can be crafted and installed with our cement coated EPS. On the interior, you can find trim that includes:
- Casing – Casing is the trim that surrounds the entire window. It covers the gap between the window frame and the wall, providing a finished look. Casings come in various styles and widths, allowing for customization to match the interior decor.
- Apron – An apron is a horizontal piece of trim located beneath the window sill. It provides a decorative element and helps to cover any gaps between the wall and the sill.
- Stool – The stool, often referred to as the window sill, is the flat, horizontal piece at the bottom of the window. It extends inward from the window, providing a place to set items or enhancing the window’s aesthetic appeal.
- Head Trim – Head trim, or head casing, is the piece that runs horizontally across the top of the window. It can be simple or elaborate, depending on design preferences.
- Jamb Extensions – Jamb extensions are additional trim pieces used to extend the window frame to match the wall depth, especially in cases where the wall is thicker than the standard window frame.
This type of trim is affordable enough for residential properties when it’s created in our cement coated EPS, yet desired enough for commercial properties as well.
Exterior Window Trim
Of course, most of the time when someone requests trim from PW Profiles, it’s because they’re looking for exterior trim. We are able to help there as well. Our work can be seen on commercial and residential properties throughout the United States and Canada, with window trim that includes:
- Brickmold – Brickmold is a type of exterior trim used to bridge the gap between the window frame and the exterior siding or brick. It provides a finished look and helps protect against water infiltration.
- Crown Molding – Crown molding is used on the exterior for a decorative, finished appearance. It is typically installed at the top of the window, adding a touch of elegance and architectural detail.
- Sill Nose – The sill nose is an exterior trim piece that extends outward from the bottom of the window, providing a drip edge to direct water away from the window and siding.
- Corner Blocks – Corner blocks are used at the corners of the window trim, both interior and exterior, to add a decorative element and simplify the installation process by eliminating miter cuts.
- Decorative Trim – Exterior decorative trim can include various profiles and patterns, such as fluted casings, keystones, and rosettes, adding architectural interest and enhancing curb appeal.
We have plenty of examples of our trim we can show you, and customization options are always available.
Specialty Window Trim
Lastly, many people prefer our products for their own specialty needs. These include:
- Historical Trim
Historical trim styles are used to replicate the architectural details of a specific period or style, such as Victorian, Colonial, or Craftsman. These trims often feature intricate designs and patterns.
- Custom Trim
Custom trim is designed and fabricated to meet specific design requirements or preferences. It can be made from various materials, including wood, composite, or PVC, and can be tailored to fit any window shape or size.
